I wrote a new post on the GrandparentsTLC.com blog. It’s about an idea I implemented as a positive reinforcement for my grandsons. I call it “Grandpa bucks“ — and it really works!

My wife and I created a new and improved blog for grandparents, replacing our old one one wordpress.com. Now we focus even more on helping grandparents learn about cool technologies to connect with grandchildren. We call our new blog GrandparentsTLC.com. TLC stands for Technology, Loving, and Connecting. We teach grandparents about technology that can increase their love for their grandchildren by connecting with them in new ways. We review cool technologies, gadgets, websites, etc. We have ”how to” articles and video tutorials. It’s an easy to learn step-by-step approach.

I enjoy this story I’ve often heard from my mentor, Robert Allen, illustrating the “inner voices” we all have inside ourselves. (I couldn’t find who the original author was.)
A Cherokee grandfather, teaching tribal ways and philosophies on life to his grandson, spoke: ”A fight is going on inside me. It is a terrible fight between two wolves.
“One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false-pride, superiority and ego.
“The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.”
Looking into his grandson’s eyes, the old man continues, ”This same fight is going on inside you and every person in the world.”
His grandson thought about this for a moment, and asked his wise old grandfather, ”Which wolf will win?”
The Cherokee grandfather replies, ”The one you feed.”
I feel it’s important to remember that the negative voices in our minds are lies. They don’t serve us. Robert Allen teaches that when you hear them, turn down the volume, and turn up the volume on the positive voices. “I can do it. I am a child of God. Life is grand….”

This is cool! I gotta get me one of these.
An exoskeleton robotic suit may help workers lift heavy loads and patients move damaged and prosthetic limbs
|
| The prospect of slipping into a robotic exoskeleton that could enhance strength, keep the body active while recovering from an injury or even serve as a prosthetic limb has great appeal. Unlike the svelt body armor donned by Iron Man, however, most exoskeletons to date have looked more like clunky spare parts cobbled together. |
| Japan’s CYBERDYNE, Inc. is hoping to change that with a sleek, white exoskeleton now in the works that it says can augment the body’s own strength or do the work of ailing (or missing) limbs. The company is confident enough in its new technology to have started construction on a new lab expected to mass-produce up to 500 robotic power suits (think Star Wars storm trooper without the helmet) annually, beginning in October, according to Japan’s Kyodo News Web site. |
